I think it must be another Europe/America thing bc my whole life ‘breadsticks’ have been these hard crunchy thin stick things you buy them at the supermarket and it says breadsticks on the box

they’re not actual baguettes, they’re very soft and probably 7-10 inches long. They’re served warm and brushed with butter.

the person in the photo above is kathleen conliffe, my mom. she is disabled with final-stage copd, diabetes, and heart failure. she is on permanent oxygen and is unable to care for herself. she has just been released from the hospital, and we got the most upsetting news:
ma is now considered terminal.
she suffered a collapses lung, pneumonia, heart failure, a short diabetic coma, and now is essentially confined to a wheelchair because her legs have become so weak she can no longer walk on her own at all. she was on a ventilator, and had a surgery to insert test tubes to remove fluid from her lungs and chest cavity.
we were given an estimate of three months if we’re fortunate, but even the pulmonary and icu staff were not sure how much of that time would be on a ventilator.
my mom has always been working class. she was a nurse herself in a trauma center, and worked up until the day her water broke and she had me, if that’s any indication of her work ethic. then she worked as a nurse in doctor’s offices, and has worked on flooring design back during the housing boom. during her adult life, she has had a grand total of two (2) vacations.
she would like a final vacation before the end of her life.
the “classic” idea of a vacation: she would like a trip to disney world, a stay in one of their resorts, and a relaxing day at a spa, and a day to a beach. the goal amount i have set would cover a wheelchair accessible suite for 6 nights, 7 days of access to all of disney’s parks, a spa day, and this would also include meals, along with travel to and from kentucky to florida.
i am currently unemployed due to my own disability application, and there is simply no way i can raise the funds on my own in time, since time is of the essence. it hurts me that i can’t do better for her, so i really want her to be able to have a final vacation and really enjoy herself and get pampered at the spa, she deserves it!
